1. Do you pay per guest or a fixed amount?
This is often the biggest difference. Commission platforms charge per guest or per booking. That looks cheap when it is quiet, but in a busy restaurant it quickly becomes expensive. A fixed subscription is predictable. Do the maths with commission or subscription.
2. Do guests book with you or with the platform?
On some platforms the guest books in the platform’s app, which then also shows them other restaurants. With a system on your own website, the guest stays with you.
3. Who owns the guest data?
Can you email your guests yourself, for example with your monthly menu? Can you export their data if you switch? Is the system built for the GDPR, with separate consent for marketing? See GDPR and guest data.
4. How easy is it for your team?
A system has to work on a busy evening. Look for a clear overview per table, a floor plan, an app for the floor staff and walk-ins you enter in a few taps.
5. What does it do against no-shows?
An email reminder, a link to cancel themselves, a waiting list and a guest database that remembers no-shows. Read preventing no-shows.
6. Does it help guests come back?
Regular guests are where you earn the most. A system with a guest database, a monthly menu and automated emails (birthday, not seen for a while) helps. See bringing regular guests back.
7. Are you tied to a contract?
Choose a system that you can cancel monthly and that you can start without costs.

Frequently asked questions
Which reservation system is cheapest for a restaurant?
That depends on the number of guests. With commission per guest you pay more the busier you are; a fixed subscription stays the same. With Jesdi that is € 35 per month, however many guests book.
Can I switch from another reservation system?
Yes. You can import your guest database, and you move your existing bookings over or let them run out in the old system.
