Two ways of paying
- Commission: you pay per guest or per booking. Many platforms charge an amount for every guest who books through them.
- Subscription: you pay a fixed amount per month, however many guests book.
An example
Say 400 guests book online each month. With a commission of € 1 per guest you pay € 400 a month. At € 2 per guest that is € 800. In a busy month even more.
With a fixed subscription of € 35 per month you pay the same every month, even when it is busy. The fuller your restaurant, the bigger the difference.
What else do you pay for?
Also look at setup costs, costs for a widget on your own website, for extra users or for emails to your guests. And at long contracts.
What do you get in return?
A commission platform sometimes brings new guests through an app. On the other hand, the guest also sees other restaurants in that app and the guest data often stays with the platform. With a system on your own website you build up your own guest database.
